Every musician has a story—and mine began at the age of eight when I picked up my very first guitar. Like many kids growing up in the seventies, I dreamed of becoming a rock star. I was a huge Alice Cooper fan, and every Carnival season I proudly wore his iconic makeup, imagining myself performing on the biggest stages in the world.
I was fortunate to have an outstanding guitar teacher who played in the well-known local rock band Sunset Super Session. He introduced me to legendary bands such as Yes, King Crimson, Genesis and Jethro Tull, opening the door to a completely new musical universe.
As the years went by, my fascination with music grew stronger every single day. What had started as a childhood dream quickly turned into a true passion. I spent countless hours practicing, discovering new bands and developing my own musical identity. It was during this time that one particular musician would inspire me more than anyone else—and ultimately change the course of my musical journey forever.
Although I started as a guitarist, it wasn't the guitar that fascinated me the most. It was Chris Squire, the legendary bassist of Yes, whose unmistakable growling bass tone and melodic playing style completely captivated me.
Around the same time I discovered UFO and, of course, Michael Schenker. The moment I heard him play, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I spent countless hours practicing every day, learning almost every UFO song, guitar solo and signature lick I could find.
At the age of eighteen, I joined my first serious band, Empire, as lead guitarist. It marked the beginning of my real journey as a live musician. We performed the biggest rock hits of the time, combined with many of my favourite UFO songs, playing at clubs, festivals and local events.
Those early performances became the foundation of everything that followed. Looking back today, those first concerts with Empire were the starting point of a lifelong passion for live performance.
Soon afterwards I received an unexpected offer from Lancelot, a band that already had a recording contract with EMI Records. There was just one catch: they weren't looking for a guitarist. They needed a bass player. Without hesitation I accepted the challenge, switched instruments and never looked back. Looking back today, it was undoubtedly the best decision of my musical career.
Playing bass with Lancelot opened doors I had only dreamed of before. Over the years I had the honour of sharing the stage with many internationally acclaimed artists, including: Michael Schenker Group (MSG), Ronnie James Dio, Paul Shortino, Uriah Heep, Nazareth, Mother's Finest, Scorpions, Kingdom Come, Dreamcatcher, Juicy Lucy, Vanden Plas, Thomas Blug, Alex Beyrodt, Mat Sinner, Devil's Train, Pendulum of Fortune, All My Shadows, Rook Road and many more to come. Each concert, every tour and every collaboration added another unforgettable chapter to my musical journey.
One of the greatest moments of my career was performing with Lancelot as the opening act for Queen at the legendary Westfalenhalle Dortmund, playing in front of more than 14,000 enthusiastic fans.
Another lifelong dream became reality in 2007, when I joined Michael Schenker on a sold-out world tour with the Michael Schenker Group (MSG). We performed throughout Japan, Ukraine, the United States, England and Ireland—including several co-headlining shows with the Scorpions—bringing the legendary songs of UFO and MSG to audiences around the world.
More than thirty years later, my passion for music remains stronger than ever. Whether I'm performing live on stage, recording in the studio or working on new musical projects, I continue to give every performance one hundred percent. For me, music has never been just a profession—it's a lifelong passion, a way of life and a journey that is far from over.
